Tonkatsu Japanese Pork Cutlet Recipe

Tonkatsu is a traditional Japanese dish that consists of a breaded and fried pork cutlet. Tonkatsu sauce and steamed rice are traditional accompaniments.

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Instructions

  • Season the pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Flour the pork chops and shake off any excess.
  • Coat the pork chops in panko breadcrumbs after dipping them in beaten eggs.
  • Heat enough oil to cover the bottom of a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the pork chops from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  • Serve with steamed rice and tonkatsu sauce.
